A good site should be properly selected before commencing the planting of ginger.
The site must be free from stomps.
It should have good irrigation system and a well-drained soil.
Land Preparation
To produce commercial and high yield of ginger the soil should be loose and friable. The land should be dug thoroughly to bring the soil to good shape without good soil the crop will fail to produce rhizomes of good shapes.
Planting
The planting material used in ginger cultivation is a seed rhizome. The seed rhizome used should be a carefully preserved rhizome free from pest and diseases.
The irrigated ginger crop is watered immediately after planting. Proper drainage channels are to be provided in between rows to drain off excess water.
The crop is watered at varying intervals between 5 - 10 days as and when required.
Enjoy Ginger! Enjoy Good Health!!
